On 1 October 2012, the London Legacy Development Corporation Planning Functions Order came into force giving the Legacy Corporation the full range of planning functions that would normally be available to a local planning authority, including plan making powers.
The London Legacy Development Corporation is the planning authority for the Mayor’s development corporation in east London which includes the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Any planning application relating to land within the Legacy Corporation Planning Area must be submitted to the Legacy Corporation, rather than to the local borough.
The precise area affected (‘the Legacy Corporation planning boundary’) includes parts of the London Boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.
