The Stadium was the centre piece of the London 2012 Games.  In March 2013, the long-term future of the iconic stadium was been secured with a deal with West Ham United Football Club which confirms the Premier League club as the Stadium’s long-term anchor tenant.

The venue is already attracting world class events following the London 2012 Games. In November 2011, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) announced that it had selected London as the host city and the Stadium as the venue for the 2017 World Athletics Championships, further cementing the lasting athletics legacy that will remain in the Stadium long after the 2012 Games are over.

Mixing elite and grassroots sport with community use

Built with flexibility in mind, the Stadium will be able to be used for major international championships (such as the World Athletics Championships as detailed above) and many other sporting fixtures, concerts, Stadium tours and also arts and cultural events – all of which will bring in ongoing revenue to the Stadium.

Back-of-house space will be maximized to bring year round animation to the venue on non event days. Uses include education, commercial, conferencing, hospitality and tours.
