Corporate Policies

On April 1st 2012 The Olympic Park Legacy Company was transformed in to the London Legacy Development Corporation. As a result of this change all corporate policies are being reviewed and updated.

The Development Corporation has identified four priority themes, which will underpin every aspect of our work, in areas such as internal operations to planning legacy communities, to defining operating arrangements for venues, and beyond. The themes reflect the political priorities of the Development Corporation’s partners and stakeholders, and the unique context of the Company’s work. The four themes are:

Promoting convergence and community participation

For the goal of convergence to be achieved, the Olympic Park legacy needs to be as accessible as possible for local people. This means ensuring that the development plans for the Park are developed with consistent participation from local residents, that economic opportunities are accessible to local people, businesses and social enterprises, and that sporting, cultural and leisure facilities and events in the Park can be used and enjoyed by local people at all income levels.

Championing equalities and inclusion

The Olympic Park lies in one of the most diverse areas of the UK. In addition to statutory duties, the Company will need to take this diversity into account in order to attract the best talent, to understand how its decisions impact on different communities and groups, and to create and manage parkland, venues, homes, events, and commercial and retail opportunities that capitalise on, are accessible to, and are responsive to the needs of such a diverse community.

Ensuring high quality design

Architectural, urban and landscape design will be essential elements for creating places within the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and the wider LLDC area, that are engaging, safe, usable and beautiful, and which create and maintain value over the long term.

Ensuring environmental sustainability

The Development Corporation will establish clear standards for environmental performance, and making the most of natural and built assets to meet the challenges posed by climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Our ambition is to use the Park as the benchmark for future large scale regeneration projects and to lead the way in encouraging sustainable living. The policy will help inform all our work as the Development Corporation and we will now embed it throughout our processes, procedures and contracts.
